Anti-Obama
The political cartoon depicted above is trying to pursuade the viewer to believe that President Barack Obama cannot get a handle on the economy and it is sliping and sliding all over the place. It is also saying that the economy is slow because of the snail used to symbolize it. Society looks at this cartoon and thinks of this as true because the economy is indeed not stable. The United States is going through hard economic times. This cartoon is trying to provide a negative view for the people that see this and this can be offensive to the people that support Obama and even his Democratic party. It is meant to hurt the good views that Obama's supporters have. The cartoonist of this cartoon decided to make Obama small because it emphasizes the economy being too much for "little" Obama to handle. It was meant to create a negative picture in the mind of who ever sees it. The cartonist used a snail to represent the slipery and slow economy. A donkey was used to represent the Democratic party, which is the party that President Obama represents. The cartoonist drew President Obama small compared to the economy. He is also holding a piece of paper that says "2012" to represent the time we are in. This cartoon represents the view of the Republicans because it is saying that the job of getting the economy back on track is not something that President Obama can handle.
Pro-Obama
Through this politcal cartoon, the cartonist is trying to tell the reader that Obama has a good strategy that will leave Romney defeated no matter what move he makes. In this game of Tic Tac Toe, Mitt Romney cannot make a move without losing. Obama has him locked. Republicans could be offended by this cartoon because it is trying to tell the audience that the Republican party cannot stand a chance against the Democratic party. The two parties have been rivals for so long that this could just cause more conflict. Democrats would agree with this cartoon because it represents Obama taking the lead and winning. Both the Republicans and Democrats took the 2012 presidential campaign very seriously and cartoons like these made a big impact, especially to undecided voters. The cartoonist exagerated Obama's nose and ears. Obama's facial expression is bored juxtaposed with seriousness. It seems as if he does not care about the game because he already knows he is going to win. The cartoon is not flattering because it shows Obama not caring and that is not proffesional. The cartoonist used a Tic Tac Toe chart to represent the presidential campaign and Mitt Romney and Barack Obama to represent themselves going against each other. This cartoon supports the Democrats because it represents their belief that Obama will come out victorious in the end.
